Gutter Cleaning Tools You Cannot Do Without

If you have to clean your gutters, then there are a couple of gutter cleaning tools that you absolutely must have to make the job go faster and easier. Of course, you can get the job done without this gutter cleaning equipment, but it would be harder. I think the most important piece of equipment is a good gutter scoop. You want to find a scoop that is as wide as possible without not being able to fit in the gutter system. The wider the scoop, the more debris you will be able to pick up with every scoop. The next attribute that the scoop should have is high sides. You want the sides to be high, even as high as the gutters are deep to fit more debris in every scooping action. The final characteristic for your gutter scoop that is important is that it have a long handle and a long reach. The longer the scoop is, again, the better the result you will get.

Another excellent gutter cleaning tool that is not necessary, but helps keep the task manageable is a long handled gutter wand. A gutter wand is something that extends as much as twenty feet allowing you to reach the gutters on a two story house without leaving the ground. One end connects to a garden hose and the other end has a nozzle on it that sprays water out under pressure to push debris out of your gutters. The advantage of this tool is that you do not need a ladder or scaffolding. Climbing the ladder is the part of gutter cleaning that has the most risk and hundreds of people are injured every year in ladder accidents. However, there is one downside, in that these wands do not work well if you have serious clogging. You will need to get up on a ladder and clean out major clogs by hand. The wand is good for touch up or last step cleanings.
